Модели медиативной процедуры в образовательном процессе (на примере Белоруссии)

Mediation as an effective way to resolve conflict situations is becoming particularly relevant in the educational system, where subjects of different age categories, educational levels, and interests interact. The mediator resolves conflicts taking into account the interests of both parties, builds favorable communication and often prevents conflict situations. That is why it is necessary to actively introduce various models of mediation in education, fixing them at the legislative level.

At the legislative level, the use of mediation in Belarus was fixed in 2013. The law provides that a mediator can be an individual who has a higher education and has been trained in the field of mediation (the exception is the presence of experience in providing mediation services). It is also mandatory to have a mediator’s certificate.

The creation of the school mediation service in Belarus dates back to 2010-2011. Psychologists worked on the project within the framework of the European grant, and the result was the development of manuals and the organization of a school mediation service on the basis of a certain school.

School mediation services in Belarus focus on rapid reconciliation and elimination of conflict situations at the initial stage, equality and well-built communication during negotiations, taking into account the interests of the child.

In addition, various forms of training in mediation practices are used in Belarus: training of trainers of multipliers of mediation technology in the field of formal and additional education, the creation of school mediation services, familiarization with mediation technology of law students. Using various techniques of communication based on the mediation of the campaign. For example, on the basis of the Center «Mediation and Law», seminars, school conferences are held, and the restorative model of mediation is taught.

School mediation services implement mediation projects with the participation of students, teachers and parents. Here they teach how to resolve conflict situations in educational institutions. In such projects, mediators work as volunteers.

An effective system of functioning of the school mediation service and the creation of a methodology in this area is provided by a specially created Center of a specialized pedagogical section. Here, mediators-teachers and mediators-lawyers interact, which increases the level of qualification of mediators not only in the field of models for using mediation, but also in the legal sphere.

The above points to the effective development of the mediation procedure in the educational system of Belarus. This also applies to conducting mediation in various forms as an effective tool for conflict resolution, as well as teaching mediation from school years on the basis of public and private educational institutions. School mediation services have been set up here, and mediation training events and courses are being held. At the same time, the work in school mediation services is based on common moral values, on the ideas of improving public relations, helping classmates and teachers. All this contributes to the identification of implicit problems for parents and teachers of children, the elimination of conflicts, the cultivation of highly qualified specialists.
