SELF-HEALING ELASTIC CONCRETE AS THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY

According to the research, the problems of simplifying and speeding up the construction process, reducing the cost of construction or operating costs, increasing the energy efficiency of the facility, increasing the life cycle of a building or structure have always been of considerable importance. Many scientists have thought about solving this problem. And one of the innovative technologies in construction is self-healing elastic concrete. Such concrete is able to withstand the most significant loads, while removing the load, it will not lose its strength. And the process of recovery will begin.

Elastic concrete has the property of self-healing due to its composition. Which was successfully selected by American scientists. It includes a complex of minerals similar to a complex of shellfish minerals. When rainwater contacts the compounds in concrete and carbon dioxide, calcium carbonate is formed in the atmosphere, which cracks. Thus, concrete will last a very long time.

Self-healing concrete is currently used in the construction of roads, high-rise buildings and critical structures. It was applied in the construction of a 60-story building in Osaka and one of the bridges in Michigan. And due to the fact that there are no compensating temperature fluctuations of joints on the roadway of the bridge, cars pass through it silently.

Bio-concrete is also capable of self-healing when bacteria interact with water. Through a special layering of individual concrete layers, plants can sit on the surface of the concrete and multiply. The water can not penetrate into the building itself, but the plants are irrigated externally and naturally. This form of bio-concrete allows us to transform urban wastes in cities into green oases and significantly reduce CO2 emissions. Added to this is the visual aspect and the numerous new design possibilities open to designers and architects. The key word here is "Vertical Gardens". This type of concrete is used in building facades of buildings.

Self-healing elastic concrete and bio-concrete are a good alternative to conventional reinforced concrete.

In conclusion, we note that self-healing elastic concrete and bio-concrete have found application in the construction industry. And in the near future, most likely, these types of concrete will be actively used not only abroad, but also in our countries.
